The poem that I have chosen is “Dear Mum” because I want to choose a poem that can reflect my personality, faith/religion (Islamic and Christian combined) and anything else that revolves around my life. The reason why I chose the poem for a deep analysis is because I find it easier to pull out ideas and questions from it. It will allow me to express the meaning “mum” more than before and also to understand the meaning much better. What is unique about the poem that I have chosen is that everyone can relate to it and the importance of a mother. What everyone can learn from the poem is that it ties up with personal references that everyone can relate too and as well as it uses religion to explain the importance of a mother. The pieces that I would like to analyze is “Dear Mum”, and Emi Mahmoud “Women of the World Poetry Slam Finals 2016.” The questions that I would have for the poem is that what made you decide to speak about this topic that no one rarely talks about? How did you manage to do everything in a straight face?
