Draft 1 expectations

Maria Torres

English 102

As I read the first assignment, my expectations for the grade I’m aiming for is at least a B+ and higher. According to the grading contract, my duties to get the grades I want is to communicate with my professor and classmates on any questions or misunderstanding I have on the poems. Also, I would hand in the assignments on the day they are due in order for my peers to review / comment my work. Plus, I wouldn’t want an incomplete work affect me and my peer grades. In addition, since I’m an introvert person I would like to participate in class to share my ideas with the rest of the class. The kind of effort I expect to put into my peer reviews is by asking them something I misunderstand. Therefore, I can comment and give suggestions to help each other be stronger writers. Another effort I can aim for is digging deeper on the message they are addressing to that way I can understand their point of view. In which is helping me expand my knowledge toward the assignment in a clearer way. Not only I’m getting help by my peers but also from my professor too. Professor Polish can help me by communicating with me. Meaning as a student responsibilities I should communicate with my professor in person or emailing her questions or any confusion towards the assignment in order to reach for the grade that I want. Not only I can receive help from my professor and my peers but also I can go to the writing center which was helpful for my english 101 assignments. The format I’m planning to use for my first assessment is doing an analytical essay and the poem I’ve chosen is called “Ebonics” by Steven Willis.

  1. Maria, this sounds great. I’m proud of you for knowing how you learn best (being introverted is totally part of our learning processes!), and for knowing when you’ve gotta ask questions. That’s excellent. I’m excited to see where you go with this project!
