Pre-Draft for Assignment #3

1.What did you learn in class on Monday that impacted how you approach reading comics and/or understanding Ms. Marvel?

I learned that a lot of hard work goes into comics. Hours and hours of hard work goes into these comics and the artist also has to do a lot of thinking. This impacted my approach because now when I see a comic, I take my time to analyze it.Not just the words, but the drawings themselves. I learned that sometimes, the drawing reveal things that you wouldn’t know by just reading the words.

2.. Did it impact your choice of format for this assignment? What format are you thinking of using?

I think I want to do a poem or a drawing for this assignment. I have it in mind but I don’t know how to take that approach. Sometimes a drawing tells a deeper story than words and you don’t always need a long essay to explain something.

3. What is unique about this format that will allow you to learn more about the comic than what is expressed on the surface?

I think if I choose to do a poem, my readers will connect to it more because of the figurative language I’ll incorporate. This will give my readers a deeper understanding of the comic.

4. What questions or concerns or excitements do you have about creating a project in this format?

I’m actually excited about doing this format and I really hope I don’t change it. I’ve always liked doing poems and I think this will give me a chance to step outside my comfort zone.

5.What is Ms. Marvel teaching you about writing so far?

So far, Ms.Marvel thought me that you don’t need long essays to get your point across to the readers. Writing doesn’t need to be complicated with a bunch of fancy words to give a message! It could be as simple as you want it to be….(reasons I want to do a poem or drawing ?.)

  1. Moe,

This is awesome! I’m so, so, so excited for you to do either a poem or comic — I wonder, too, if you could incorporate both. Like, what if you drew a little comic to be the “cover” of your poem, for example? You don’t have to, I’m just trying to think about how you can get as creative as you want. Almost all of your classmates are doing creative projects, as well, so you’re not alone in doing something awesomely unique! I’m so, so, so excited to see where you take this!!!
