About the Professor

 

Deshonay Dozier is a doctoral candidate in Environmental Psychology at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her scholar-activism engages alternatives to policing made by working class communities of color. Her dissertation research examines how cultural critiques and resistance in Skid Row, Los Angeles have worked towards abolishing social, economic, and political forms of containment and dispossession since the 1970s. Dozier teaches psychology, urban studies, and ethnic studies as a Mellon Fellow at LaGuardia Community College.
