  1. The author’s says that “language standardization does not symbolize an actual end-product” because the development of language never ends. The advantage to language standardization is that the society can communicate best with the language standardization they accepted. The disadvantage to language standardization is that people new to society have to learn.

  2. The authors of the article/chapter state that “language standardisation does not symbolise an actual end-product” because language is always changing. Words are always being created and taken out so there isn’t really a set set of words in our languages. Since there isn’t a set of words that are always there, the way language is standardized is not the actual end-product for years to come. Language standardisation will always be changing depending on people, the current years and the environment. For example, words that were used a century ago, are most likely not used today, in 2018.

  3. It is stated that language standardization does not symbolize an actual end-product because language is ever-changing due to the community and it’s youth. In order for it to be an end-product it has to continually and indefinitely be accepted by it’s community as a whole. The advantages of a standardized language is that everyone would have no issue of misunderstanding each other and communicating. The disadvantages of standardizing a language is that there will be no diversity, growth, or evolution of a within a language.

  4. I think that the reason why the chapter states that “Language standardization does not symbolize an actual end- product?” is because language standardization is always changing. we could say that society is the one that creates language standardization and that’s why it could vary depending on the place and the culture.

  5. The author in this reading states that language standardisation is a process and not an end result. I believe so because as the author states, with new generations being brought upon, new words are constantly being invented and as this is being said language is never still or just standing. The disadvantage of this is languagism or basically if they make one language standardized, everyone else will have to know and learn that language and not everyone intakes languages the same. An advantage is as stated becomes prestige within a society.

  6. The author in the readings state that language standardization doesn’t symbolize an actual end product because language is constantly changing. I agree with this the authors because I believe that language continues to expand over communities & time periods. An advantage of language standardization is that it is easier for people to communicate when they already understand the language.

  7. The author states that “language standardization” is never ending because of all the words that are being created and taken out. The only way it can be an end result is if everyone accepts the words and doesn’t seem to creat new words. The advantage would be that the people would have no problem communicating with each other because they will understand each other. The disadvantage of this would be that some people might not mesh with the language that everyone is using.
