As I have stated on my comments, you must delve more deeply into the different layers of meaning connected to the sign (i.e. What is/are the sign(s) indexing?). Then, you can make the connection between the sign and the neighborhood taken into consideration linguistic and non-linguistic factors such as the type of the store, demographics, social and economic factors…

I believe you followed the rubric well to an extent, but perhaps you can rearrange towards the end though because it seems you went away from describing the sign to describing the neighborhood. I see what you were trying to do, so instead, perhaps you can possibly describe the area in terms of ethnicity? In other words, is the sign in English because there are not that many Chinese or Asians in the area/neighborhood?

2. It seems like there’s something more to the sign that you could have spoken about but it is blurred out a little… As far as your conclusion, again, you can make a relation between the ethnicity of those in the neighborhood and why the sign is in complete English. Do people in that area only speak English? Maybe you can connect it all together to make a more complete conclusion. Hopefully this helps you out.

Since your conclusion seems a bit short, you can just put it on the paragraph before it or paraphrase your essay more. On the bottom in the middle, there is a “like” and “share” showing so you might want to crop or retake the picture. Nice job!
