Commenting on posts on the CUNY Humanities Alliance sites and its course sites helps to make the site an interactive and engaging community. You may also be required to respond to the blog posts of other students in your class.
Your class may go over best practices of comments to make sure that the CUNY Humanities Alliance is a positive and safe space for people to share their thoughts.
Step 1 — Navigate to the Post
In order to comment on a post, you should first navigate to the page of the post. You can do so by clicking on the title of the post.
In the example below, the blog post is on a course site’s home page. You cannot comment directly on the post from the home page, but you can comment on it once you click the blog post’s title, which is underlined in the screenshot below.
Once you click on the title, you’ll be brought to the blog post’s page.
Step 2 — Type in Comment Text Box
From the blog post’s permanent page, you can scroll down to the bottom until you see the Comment heading.
Under the Comment heading will be a text box where you can enter the text of your comment.
Within this text box, you can enter your comment.
If you are going to be writing a complex comment, it may be a good idea to type it out elsewhere first to ensure that you don’t lose it in case something goes wrong with your internet connection.
Step 3 — Post Comment
When you are happy with the comment you have typed out, you can click on the Post Comment button below the text box.
When you click the Post Comment button, the blog post page will reload and you’ll be able to see your comment available on the page.
From here, you can edit your comment, and others can reply to your comment.
Through commenting, you can help others in your class with thinking through their blog posts, or engage with the wider CUNY Humanities Alliance network by adding insight and asking questions.
